OUR STORY
ABOUT KATHERINE
Katherine grew up in Pacific Palisades, CA (along with Mammoth Lakes, CA) with her Mom, Dad, three sisters, and dog. Her family was constantly on the go – playing on her grandparents’ farm in Iowa, exploring the mountains of the Eastern Sierra, and visiting other countries. She competed on the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team for 11 years and was nationally ranked in Freestyle skiing. When she wasn’t out skiing, she played soccer, ran cross country, created art, learned musical instruments, and spent all remaining time enjoying the outdoors. Although she was a very independent child, college was her first time away from her twin sister. Katherine studied Civil Engineering at Lehigh University and went on to get her Masters in Structural Engineering at UC Berkeley. She currently works as a structural engineer at Silman in NYC. Now she loves running in Central Park, exploring museums, and spending time with her friends.
ABOUT Nat
Nat was born in NYC and grew up in Bergenfield, NJ with his Mom, Dad, and four younger siblings. From a very young age, he had an affinity for music making. His foundational years were molded by his time in his high school marching band, his studies in Composition and Conducting at Lehigh University, performing in orchestras and vocal ensembles, and collaborating with musical artists and filmmakers. He currently works as a composer at Butter Music + Sound in NYC and is a music producer with Satsuma Collective. In his free time, he loves watching movies, cultivating his skills in photography, food, coffee and cocktails, and sharing all of these with others.
ABOUT US
Katherine and Nat met just a couple of weeks into their first year at Lehigh University when a tricky math problem brought their two homework groups together. They soon became study buddies which developed into friendship. A few months later, they went on their first official date at the local diner in search of good pie. After dating for a couple of years, they decided to part ways and focus on themselves. Just before graduating from Lehigh, Katherine and Nat spent Spring Break in Tahoe with their friends. There they began to reconnect and start anew. The next five years were filled with love, laughter, adventures, and many new experiences.
They kicked off their relationship with a massive cross-country road trip from Pennsylvania to California – Nat pretty much drove the whole time. After graduating, they both started internships in New York City. Most of their time was spent in Central Park, at museums, or in Nat’s backyard. After the summer, Katherine moved to California for graduate school, and the long distance began. A year later, she was back in NYC full time… until the Covid lockdown. She spent the first few months with Nat and his family watching many movies and going on masked walks outdoors. Katherine then spent over a year in California with her family. When Nat visited, they went on hikes, drove all over the state, went to Disneyland, and most importantly, Katherine taught Nat how to ski!! Nat and all his siblings also flew out for a big West Coast trip just before Katherine returned to NYC. While her time in California was great, they are now living happily on the same coast.
During a recent trip to California, Nat, Katherine, and her family went on their traditional sunset hike on the trails behind her childhood home. As they stopped to take in the view, Nat got on one knee and proposed!
They are so excited to start their lives together and cannot wait to share this experience with you!
